April 5-10 Announcements

Parents,

We have been making some great process so far in the season and I am very excited about what the future holds for our team. Here are some announcements for this week that you may be interested in. 

• The schedule for this week is as follows
• Monday: Practice @2:45
• Tuesday: Practice @2:30
• Wednesday: Meet @Layton High (All Athletes)
• Thursday: Practice @2:30
• Friday: Practice @ 2:30 
• Saturday: Taylorsville Invitational Meet (By invite only)
• The meet on Wednesday will be for all athletes. The schedule of events will be the same as for the previous meets. 
• The meet on Saturday will be invitation only. All athletes are welcome to attend the meet and ride the bus (though it is not required) but not all athletes will compete. The bus will leave Northridge High at 6:15 SHARP! Running events start at 7:30. You can find all of the information for this meet here. 

Although this announcement does not directly affect this week, I wanted you all to know that my wife and I will likely be having our baby during the first week of May. I will likely be taking some time to take care of her and the baby when that time comes. Even though I won't be at practice and may miss a meet or two, the other coaches will be stepping in to run things until I can come back.

March 22-26 Announcements

 Hello Parents!

Here is the schedule for this week. 

Monday: Practice @2:45

Wednesday: Covid Testing at the school
                    Davis District Meet @Syracuse (Schedule)
Thursday: Davis District Meet @Syracuse (Schedule)

Friday: Practice @2:30

For those who are competing in the meet, the bus is leaving at 1:45 and athletes will check out at 1:25. If your child is not competing, they will not be required to attend the meet. 
The forecast is showing snow so please make sure that your athletes dress warm!!
Spectators are allowed but there will also be a $3 charge for spectators to enter the meet. 

Next week is spring break. Coaches will continue to post workouts in the Slack but there will not be formal practices.

March 15-19 Announcements

 This week's schedule is as follows:

Monday: Covid Testing at the school
                Practice @2:45

Tuesday: Davis Super Meet @Davis High (Girls Only) (Meet Details)

Wednesday: Davis Super Meet @Davis High (Boys Only)

Thursday: Practice @2:45

Friday: Practice @2:00 (Earlier than normal because of soccer game)

Please note that the Davis Super Meet is a bigger invitational meet meant for qualifying athletes for the state meet. Not all athletes will be competing. The best way I know how to differentiate between these bigger invitational meets and the smaller dual/tri meets like the one we hosted last Wednesday, is that the invitational meets are for varsity caliber athletes and the dual/tri meets are similar to a jv competition. 

Even though the girls and boys are competing on different days and not everyone will be competing, I still expect everyone to be at the meet to support. There will be opportunities to complete workouts for those not competing.  

The bus will be leaving Northridge at 1:45 SHARP on both days for the meet. Athletes will be checked out of class at 1:25.

March 8-12 Announcements

 Hello Parents!

Here is some information for the upcoming week!

There has been a slight change in the practice schedule that was handed out at the parent meeting. When I first created the schedule, I wasn't aware of a multiple-day soccer tournament that Northridge is hosting next week. For that reason, our practices on Monday and Tuesday, will have to start at 2:30 in order to get our workouts done before the soccer games start. There is also a soccer game on Friday. We will start practice at 2:00 on that day. 

Regarding the meet next week on Wednesday, March 10th. Spectators ARE allowed!!! YAY!!! Please make sure that you are always wearing a mask on school grounds and encouraging your child to wear a mask whenever they are not warming up or competing. In an effort to ensure that all athletes will be present to help set up for the meet, we will be having team pictures taken at 1:00. For those of you who have children at charter schools, they will need to get checked out if they want to be in the picture. Please make sure that team fees are paid so that your child can check out a jersey. If they don't have a jersey, they can still be in the picture but won't be wearing a jersey. They also won't be able to compete in the meet. Below is a list of things that WILL prevent your child from competing on Wednesday and for meets in the future. 

- Not being on Register My Athlete
- Not paying the district fee in the office ($95)
- F's and U's or 2nd term grades below a 2.0

If your child falls into this category on Wednesday but is still planning on competing in future meets, they are still expected to attend our home meet on Wednesday and help run different events. 

Hosting a track meet is a lot of work and has a lot of moving parts that need to run smoothly. If you would like to help with one of the field events, please let me know.

Parent Meeting February 3rd

If you missed the parent meeting on February 3rd, all of the information you need is linked below. Here are some highlights.

- Have your child join our group chat on Slack with this link. Slack Group Chat

- Make sure you get your child on Register My Athlete. Instructions to do so are linked below. 

- There will be periodic testing for covid throughout the season. You must sign the consent form to have your child tested in order for them to participate on the track team. 

- Things WILL change. Because of covid and other factors, nothing is set in stone.
